This grand home was built in 1837 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The main house has been continuously and completely updated throughout the years (plumbing, electrical, insulation, etc.) with careful attention being consistenly placed on preserving the original character and charm. As one example, the current owners have even been able to closely replicate the original wallpaper that covered these walls so long ago. Wonderful architectural details, fabulous decorating and sturdy antique furniture found throughout the home add to the beauty and authenticity of this B&B. If these walls could talk, they would tell of Presidential visits, the Underground Railroad and much, much more.
The owner's residence is both convenient and private. It boasts a beautiful kitchen, large airy bedroom, bright living room, office and bath. A separate 'servant's' staircase ascends into a private 2 bedroom, one bath suite which could be used as an extension of the owners' residence or rented as part of the B&B. This suite is also accessible from the main house, which offers an additional three bedrooms. All three of these bedrooms feature their own immaculate bathrooms, and one even has an extra sitting room. Taking the grand staircase down to the first floor, guests will find a comfortable living room and inviting dining room separated by large, working pockets doors and surrounded by solid windows and French doors. Windows and doors are nearly draft-free and extremely energy efficient, helping heating costs stay surprisingly low. For those desiring the famously healing Adirondack air, enjoy the outdoors from one of four classic, welcoming porches located around the home.
